We have a variety of beautiful spaces that will make your wedding day truly memorable, from smaller affairs of 10 people, right up to 250 guests. We’ve seen everything from intimate dinners, to festive weddings, to parties that go on ’til 2am!
The Black Friar is relaxed, refined and centrally located – just a stone’s throw from Manchester city centre. We’re fiercely independent and put our hearts into everything we do, making us the perfect choice for such a special occasion.
Whether you’re looking for a champagne reception, excellent sit down dining or some good old pub grub – our bespoke menus and packages ensure you and your loved ones are well looked after.

THE GLASS ROOM
CAPACITY: 30 SEATED, 40 STANDING
The jewel in our crown, this new space was added during the renovation of The Black Friar in 2021. Blending into the surrounding Garden, The Glass Room is flooded with sun by day and glows warmly under the starry skies by night.
This beautiful, greenery filled space is relaxed yet impressive – the perfect setting for sit down dining or champagne receptions. Dine, lounge, or spill out into the garden during warmer months.

THE TAVERN
CAPACITY: 52 SEATED, 70 STANDING
Our fully covered and heated outdoor Tavern makes for a quirky space for your big day. With the decor changing to reflect the seasons, be assured the space will look beautiful, whatever the date of your celebrations.
The Tavern comes complete with full private bar and bathrooms. Short of hiring the whole venue, the Tavern is our most private space – hire a DJ and dance the night away with your loved ones.

You asked, we answered! The Black Friar is now a licensed premises for civil partnerships and wedding ceremonies.
Hold your wedding ceremony right here in one of three unique spaces. The Sanctuary (30 guests), Tavern (70 guests) and Garden (70 guests) all have their own charms, with each providing the perfect backdrop to your big day, whatever your plans.

BESPOKE PACKAGES
Get in touch and let us take care of the rest. We’re able to create everything especially for you – everything from florals, vintage glassware and linen for table styling to bespoke menus and one-of-a-kind cocktails.
