The Black Friar Public House + Restaurant has risen from the ashes, lovingly restored to be bigger and better than its previous incarnations. We like to think it’s somewhere everyone feels at home.
So what better place to gather with colleagues, friends or family? We have a variety of beautiful spaces which provide the perfect atmosphere for any occasion, from intimate dinners for 10 to full venue hire up to 250 guests.

From the grandeur of the Glass Room to our award-winning Garden, The Black Friar is a relaxed yet refined choice for your big day. Champagne receptions, excellent sit down dining or good old pub grub – we offer bespoke menus and packages to ensure you and your loved ones are looked after.

The Black Friar is now an approved premises for civil partnerships and wedding ceremonies, too! Have your wedding ceremony here for an additional fee – we’ll provide a list of preferred celebrants, or bring your own.
Our menus are all expertly curated by our Head Chef, Ben Chaplin. We’re always happy to tailor menus to suit taste and budget, having put together 2&3 course sit downs, canapés and even grazing stations.
From lager and stout to champagne and one-of-a-kind cocktails, our bartenders can help create your perfect drinks reception. We also offer tea, coffee and more for decidedly less boozy events.
